The companionship of a Labrador retriever started a journey of technology and love.

In 2018, business partners Harry He, Sam Wang and other friends welcomed their first Labrador retrievers. These little creatures became important members of their families, making them realise the meaning of “pets as family”. Their shared experience of raising pets led them to join one of China’s first Labrador enthusiast communities, sharing the healing joy of pet ownership.

Yet joy was always accompanied by anxiety: when their pets showed symptoms like vomiting or diarrhoea, they often felt helpless. Rushing to the vet risked missing the critical period, while staying at home meant relying only on guesswork. Back then, China’s pet healthcare system was underdeveloped, with a lack of testing tools, and waiting for a diagnosis felt like torture.

As pet owners themselves, they deeply understood this distress. “Why can’t pet health testing be simpler and more timely?” This thought became increasingly clear. They decided to make a change, and thus ITGen was born.
